Post Concussion Syndrome

What Is Post Concussion Syndrome?

Post-Concussion Syndrome is one of the most devastating neurological injuries one can sustain, not only because of the lingering neurological symptoms post-injury, but also due to the lack of an accepted “gold standard” test for this condition. Most brain injury patients will have either a CT scan or an MRI of the brain and will return with normal results. But what if you don’t feel normal after a brain injury? What if your neurological symptoms persist even after an MRI or CT scan comes back clear?

How Do We Treat PCS?

At Gates Way to Health, we approach PCS differently. With a full neurological exam, including monitoring your brain through your eye movements (which is being shown to be a predicting factor of post-concussion syndrome), we can determine that while your brain may appear normal, the inflammation in your body persists and aggravates your neurological symptoms. For some, the brain injury appears to have set into motion a series of dysfunctional immunological and hormonal imbalances. In short, your brain never really got a chance to heal. Our goal is to reduce the inflammation in your body in order to treat your brain.

Dr. Randall Gates, D.C. Board Certified Chiropractic Neurologist, is determined to treat the conditions that are so often looked over by traditional medicine. The ignored, the misunderstood, the misdiagnosed…these are the patients that Dr. Gates strives to help.

If you or a loved one have suffered a concussion and have persisting neurological symptoms, give us a call at 833.DR.GATES to schedule your free consultation with the Gates Way to Health team to find the real root cause of your condition and start feeling better…today!

The answer is many, but the simple concept appears to be that there is persistent inflammation in the body. The brain injury for some appears to set into motion dysfunctional immunological and hormonal imbalances. Due to this, the brain never appears to have a chance to heal. Fortunately, researchers are finding more ways to objectively demonstrate neurological compromise after a head injury and we use this science at Gates Way To Health.
